Changes

Since my wisdom teeth came out, it's been a hard few months. It's been a hard year in fact. I would think that the real problems I had with my grandfather passing away and my grandmother's house burning down would have been more stress than anything, but really - that's life. There's nothing you can do about things like that. It's the things in your life that you OUGHT to be able to do something about that really get to you.

It takes a lot of pressure to make a diamond and it takes our trials and tribulations to make us whole human beings that have experienced both the good and the bad and can wisely see life for how beautiful it is, ups and downs all included.

So I'm beginning a new chapter of my life. I don't know exactly what changes I'm going to make, although I've already lost some weight and got a great new job that I'm really excited about. But all I really know is that things are going to get better. I'm going to make sure of it.

tv!

While some of my favorite shows (ie 24, american idol, others...) are going down hill, and I'm starting to have seen everything on Animal Planet, Thank God For This Thursday!

For tonight is that wonderful wonderful show... The Office.

And if it goes down hill too, I'm gonna strangle someone! Here's keeping our fingers crossed!

the recent past

My, things have been busy. For anyone that's interested, Christmas went well. My mom and dad got me a nice lamp and speakers for the TV and such. Tim got me (among other things) an entertaining miniature replica of Margaret Morrison. random but funny.

Things have also been busy at work, but not as fun as it once was.... I've been enjoying my tv and DVR-ing lots of animal and futuristic documentaries and The Office. I'm working on a redesign of my website, among other things, and trying to spend at least some time each week with my grama in her new house, which seems to be working out well for her.

Otherwise it seems like not much has been happening, even though I feel always busy. aw, well, maybe things will cool down now that the holidays are far far away..... and there are none coming. poo.

pretty funny - psycho killer

Check out this Thai video for some sort of banking service where all your utilities are on one bill... so you don't forget....

Getting my life back in order

Now that my friend from high school's wedding is over, I can finally get my life back in order!

U P D A T E S :
  • The wedding – My toast went over well. I didn't trip and fall trying to adjust her massive train. My hair did take 2 1/2 hours though!
  • The computing situation – My new baby has shipped. Hell yeah. Although the LCD monitor (that I don't even need but it was free) has not yet....
  • The Christmas situation – Actually wrote my Christmas cards! But I have no stamps. And very few Christmas presents bought yet.
  • My TV – My TV is cool. I watch it a lot. It is fun. No, it has not fried my brain. Yet. But I sure have gotten a lot of CSI, South Park, and Dog the Bounty Hunter.
  • Cooking! – I made veggie soup from scratch. It was fun and pretty easy. :)
  • Holiday party – Tonight T&I went to the holiday party for his work at the Omni William Penn. I even got him to dance for 3 SONGS. And one of them was that "Move it! Move it!" song from Madagascar.

:) Life is good.

Finally a break!

Ah... well this has been quite a week / month. Boy, do I not want to go back to work tomorrow! And I've also got class tomorrow with the kids that ask the fewest questions in the history of cmu! so many things have been going on, it's so hard to summarize.....

1. computer crashed. going to jump off bridge. brightside: get to buy a new one!!
2. my grama has a new house, and we've almost finished buy all new stuff for it and moving her in. she's still very sick, though, but i hope she can live a little while longer on her own, if only because that's what she wants.
3. my friend's wedding that i'm in is sucking up all my time. between invitations, bridal showers, presents, programs, gowns, and such! i'm honestly going to be glad when it's over. but that's only 2-3 more weeks, so i'll make it soon enough. i'm just worried about it screwing up the christmas season instead of augmenting it like it ought to.
4. almost have all the furniture bought and assembled for my apartment! i have a couch coming on tuesday, and i still need more than 1 lamp, but things are actually starting to shape up! :) there's always so much to be done, though, and it's especially tiring when i'm doing it all twice for my grama too!

*sigh* well there's certainly more but this is long enough already. I've got to give thanks for the all the good friends and family I've blessed with.... I'm very lucky to have you all.

Happy Halloween!!!

Today I was a college football fan. (An attempt at being ironic because there's few things I find more annoying than college sports in general!) All in all it was a really boring day. I brought in candy to work, which I think was appreciated except for the fact that my boss ate ALL the twizzlers before 10:30... hehe. it doesn't matter, i guess that's the point of halloween. candy.

otherwise i just ate half the brownies i baked last night. woo! they turned out amazingly well....

F A L L

I love Fall..... Fall is wet leaves on the pavement, fall is cold wind and hot apple cider.... Fall is the best!!!

Hopefully this weekend T & I will be going to the pumpkin patch. He said he would and I am very excited. But we'll see. I'm also supposed to go shopping for a couch this weekend (my birthday present to go with a lovely electronic b-day present from t) as well as see practically my whole family. But it's fall, so I need to go soon!!

It feels more like winter, though. But I don't mind. I'm looking forward to snow, although I'm not looking forward to working in our icy office. Think I'll have to get ready to complain....

Which reminds me - Tuesday will be 1 year of work at Informatics! Can you believe it?? I can't believe it's been so long since I graduated, moved to Chicago, tore my life to pieces, moved back to Pittsburgh, and started putting things back together again. But it has. Time seems to be getting faster.

Children of NY

Aw, so cute.

Interesting from a photography prospective, but for all my NY buddies it's cool too.

it's been awhile...

It's been awhile,
Since I've seen the way candles light your face,
And it's been awhile,

But I can still remember just the way you taste....

It's funny, becoming an adult. It's like my life has been broken into segments, and I didn't even realize it, and now I'm trying to piece it all together into one person.

I thought of the song up there when I was randomly titling this post. I've always loved that song, although in most ways it's never really applied to me. Still, looking back now on who I've been for the last almost 24 years... whoa - have I been all over the place!

It's funny to see all these separate selves and know that they are all apart of me. The challenge is being all of those things at once. Being completely me with those I love the most. Was it Rand or Emerson that said being yourself is truly the hardest thing?

Ah, well. No matter. I should be in bed. :)

fall colors

Interesting article on women that can see 4 colors... and how they could be traced through color blind sons.

I've been soooo busy lately, running around trying to get the invitations sent out to my friend's wedding shower. It took a lot of work. Add on to that continuing to clean my apartment and do work for my class, and, well... I'm so busy!

Work has been dragging on lately. Not much fun at all. But it's ok, I'll get through it.

AND NOW IT'S FALL!!!! :-D So I will try to be content, when I have a few moments to breathe.

Hearing Paintings

I just had to post this, because I think it's awesome. A researcher in the UK asked people to draw their experiences when listening to the London Orchestra. Half were synesthetes, and half were not. The interesting part? Later normal people were asked to choose which drawings best described the music, and they consistently choose the drawings from the synesthetes. What could it mean....?

I have lots of updating to do, but for now I think I'd rather eat a late breakfast.
